UPDATE:  If you read the stories below you will see how sad this is that Suzanne kna Lucia is back at the rescue.  After 2 years of her having a home and family she was returned.  Her owner of personal problems and and his wife developed allergies to the dog.  Lucia is good with other dogs, completely house and crate trained, good with cats.  She enjoys baths and enjoys her walks.   There has to be someone out there that will be a serious applicant and want to keep her forever.  Please if you are interested in her please put an application in. 
Judy pulls up to the shelter at about 5 a.m. and sees a crate with a cover on it. How surprised was she when she took the cover off to find a flea ridden Suzanne inside. Judy was even more surprised to discover after taking Suzanne out of the crate that the poor girl was very, very pregnant. This poor dog was left unwanted and pregnant. Judy took her in, gave her a warm bath with flea shampoo, and some food for her very pregnant belly. She set Suzanne up with a comfy bed and the wait began. 
Suzanne went to a foster home a few days later. On March 19, Suzanne blessed the world with some adorable puppies. She nursed and cared for her babies until they were old enough to take care of themselves, went to the vet to get spayed and up to dates on her shots, and is now ready for a home of her own. This mama deserves a family that will love her, protect her, and reassure her that she will never be dumped again.
Dog 4 a Day Update 7/1/16:      Suzanne is the sweetest, most gentle dog ever! We took her for the night and had so much fun. She loved to give us kisses and when we scratched her ears. She also loved to play, but she was always very gentle. We took her for three walks because she really enjoyed being outside and following that big nose of hers. She never barked when other dogs or people walked by. She slept throughout the night in her crate and didn't wake us up once. Our favorite thing was her big smile. She will be a fabulous addition to any family and will love them so much!'
